3. Residential Care Visits

PICNet will be visiting residential care facilities throughout the Lower Mainland during October and November. If you’d like us to visit your facility, Click here for more information

During fall 2016, PICNet’s Bug Gang will visit residential care facilities across the Lower Mainland and in Prince George. For the past four years, our educational infection control game has been a huge hit. We are limited in the number of facilities we can visit, so be sure to book early if you’d like us to come! Please note, we can only visit facilities we have not visited in the past two years.

PICNet can visit your residential care facility during October and November 2017. We can do a morning or an afternoon session (or two sessions, depending on your staffing schedule). We need a separate room, ideally with a large table that everyone can sit around, and we prefer to see the staff in groups of 8-20 people. Each session lasts about 45 minutes, although it’s best if we have a full hour so that there is time for questions and answers. There will be prizes for everyone!

Due to budget restrictions, we now charge a $200 fee for each visit.

If you are interested in having PICNet visit your facility, please complete the booking form and submit it to us by email ( Upon receipt, we will follow up with a phone call to confirm our visit date and to discuss your infection control week needs.

If you’d like us to visit your facility:

  • Visit dates: any time from the beginning of October to late November; please indicate your preferences on the form
  • We can only visit facilities in the Lower Mainland or Prince George, and only ones we have not visited in the past two years.
  • Preference will be given to facilities that make the workshop mandatory

If we’re unable to visit your facility or you’d like to run the workshop yourself, you can order one of PICNet’sLet’s Go Viral! workshop in-a-box kits. The kit includes the exact same game we will be hosting, with instructions and supplies; you just have to provide the prizes.

IPAC-Canada has lots of great planning resources for Infection Control Week.

Public Health Ontario has produced a great book of ideas for IC Week activities.

APIC has some great infection control posters; although they are American, the content applies equally in Canada (just check with your IC department before posting, in case they prefer to have Canadian-created posters).
