On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Provincial Infection Control Network (PICNet) hosted their Provincial Carbapenemase-Producing Organism (CPO) Symposium in Burnaby.
This in-person event engaged approximately 60 health-care professionals from across the province to share insights and address objectives related to CPO surveillance and management, and collaboratively inform the development of CPO guidelines. Attendees heard from experts about the role that genomics can play in CPO cluster investigations, and about Fraser Health’s point prevalence in long-term care pilot project.
Important decisions and agreements were identified during the session and several actions are already underway. For more information about Carbapenemase-Producing Organisms, please visit PICNet’s CPO page.
