Upcoming Changes to Hand Hygiene Basics Course #5360 PICNet – Provincial Hand Hygiene Basics on the LearningHub is being replaced with a revised course. The course number (#5360) and LearningHub link will remain unchanged. Learners should either complete the current course by 8:59am on August 31 or register for the revised course when it becomes available on September 3 at 9:00am. Any in-progress work not completed by 8:59am August 31 will not be transferred to the revised course and will be lost. Course registration will be temporarily unavailable from August 31 at 9:00am to September 3 at 8:59am to allow the transition to the revised course. The revised course will include updated content, hand hygiene demonstration videos, practice scenarios tailored to different care settings, and enhanced accessibility features and resources. Please note: As of May 2017, this module has been rolled into each of these courses: Infection Prevention and Control Practices for Direct Clinical Care Providers and Infection Prevention and Control Practices for Health-Care Providers Not Involved in Direct Clinical Care. We are leaving this module posted for anyone who would like to do a quick hand hygiene knowledge/practice refresher; but please make sure you have completed whichever of the Infection Prevention and Control Practices modules is required for your job.
This online training module, created by the Provincial Hand Hygiene Working Group, is a good resource for those who need to learn about hand hygiene but do not need all the content that is presented in the Infection Control Basics module. The hand hygiene module is hosted on the PHSA Learning Hub, where you can track your courses and print a certificate after completion. Anyone (from any health authority, or from any non-affiliated site) can create an account on the Learning Hub; all you need to provide is your name and an email address. You can find instructions on how to create an account here. Note: You will need Adobe Flash to play the videos in the module.
