The orientation manual for new infection control professionals (ICPs) is the result of a collaborative effort by ICPs from across Canada. It is designed to provide the new ICP with enough basic knowledge and skills to enable them to begin their practice while waiting to register for an accredited infection control course. The manual is divided into 10 modules to be downloaded and printed for use. PICNet would like to invite any individual involved in healthcare to complete these modules — because infection prevention and control practices are everyone’s responsibility.
Module 1: Introduction
Module 2: Routine Practices and Additional Precautions
Module 3: Hand Hygiene
Module 4: Microbiology
Module 5: Surveillance
Module 6: Outbreak Management
Module 7: Communicable Diseases
Module 8: Occupational Health
Module 9: Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization of Medical Equipment and Devices
Module 10: Construction and Renovation
* Also available as a course, along with quizzes for each module, on LearningHub
PICNet requests that you complete an evaluation form after each module, and return to us by email.
