Announcement: Farewell to Samar Hejazi, PhD – Lead, Research and Knowledge Translation, PICNet

We bid farewell to our colleague Samar Hejazi on June 19th, and while we are sad to see her go, we are also excited for her to assume the role of Research and Implementation Scientist with Fraser Health. Samar joined PICNet in August 2023 and brought valuable knowledge and insight regarding research project/protocol development, critical appraisal and evidence synthesis, evaluation planning, quality indicator design and more.

From the outset, Samar’s expertise and work ethic combined with her compassion, made her a valued team member. Samar delivered several impactful work products during her tenure. She provided oversight and contributed to the development of research questions, facilitated the literature review, delivered evidence syntheses, and created recommendations for the provincial infection prevention and control guidelines for reprocessing of flexible endoscopes.  Samar was instrumental in contributing to the Provincial Carbapenemase-Producing Organisms (CPO) Action Plan, playing a lead role in developing an evaluation plan complete with key performance indicators. She also co-created various research questions that will inform revised CPO guidelines.  In addition, Samar offered astute suggestions for PICNet’s Strategic Action Plan 2025-26.  Samar is a strong leader and supervised a Master’s practicum student and a Research Assistant, overseeing their work and ensuring high quality deliverables during their employment.

Samar’s empathy, integrity, adaptability, helpful demeanor, and commitment to her work make her an esteemed colleague.

Please join us in wishing Samar all the best in her next endeavor.
