• Examining the “unmentionables” – sanitation and the global agenda

      Date: December 17th, 2015

      Time: 10:30 am PST

Speaker: Rose George, Author & Journalist

      Objectives:

Great progress has been made in sanitation since 2008, when I published my book “The Big Necessity: Adventures in the World of Human Waste”. In my teleclass I will look at the death toll in children from diarrhoea, the fragile state of wastewater infrastructure, and cultural attitudes to sanitation and hygiene. What has been achieved and what more needs to be done? Is declaring sanitation a human right any use? Has sanitation come any further up the political agenda of governments and donors? And is poo still as unmentionable as it once was?
