Antibiotic Resistance is an increasingly serious threat to public health. A recent high-level meeting of the World Health Organization reinforced the responsibility that we all share in helping raise awareness of and engaging in recommended practices to reduce the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.

The Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (AMMI) Canada is proud to launch a national initiative to stop inappropriate antibiotic use for Asymptomatic Bacteriuria in Long-Term Care Residents.

The campaign aims to reach nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, pharmacists, front-line health care providers, patients, and families involved with long-term care facilities with the view to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and promote antimicrobial stewardship in Canada.
